For years, politicians and thought leaders have debated the science behind global warming. The United Nations created the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) to reach some clear conclusions. In February 2007, they issued a Summary for Policy Makers which included the following conclusions :
"Warming of the climate system is unequivocal. Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (human) greenhouse gas concentrations. World temperatures could rise by between 1.1 and 6.4 °C (2.0 and 11.5 °F) during the 21st century and sea levels will probably rise by 18 to 59 cm (7.08 to 23.22 in). The probability that this is caused by natural climatic processes alone is less than 5%."
The Neutral Group would summarize this as "Global warming is real, it is serious, and we humans are the cause."
It is of particular importance to the global supply chain industry - consumers demand that products are available worldwide, and sourcing strategies frequently involve significant global transportation, warehousing, and complex logistic operations - all of which serve to increase the climate change challenges.
Corporations around the world have listened to this news and reacted in an unprecendented manner to take dramatic steps to assess and reduce their carbon footprints. Deploying sustainable technologies which recognise the short term need for business as usual combined with a long term need for substantial carbon abatement, we are helping them to optimise this situation.
Working together, we are striving to achieve a better balance with our environment - with specific measurable actions - to create scenarios which are capable of becoming truly Neutral. If you would like to join us, please see our current list of vacancies here.
